Country Needs People

The idea is simple. If you wish to pay corkage select your amount and 100% of your corkage amount will go to our chosen organisation for the month.

For the month of October we have chosen Country Needs People. This is an independent not-for-profit committed to championing Indigenous land and sea management across Australia by supporting, advocating and amplifying the vital work of Indigenous Rangers, Indigenous Protected Areas (IPAs), and Indigenous caring for Country.

Before European contact Indigenous Australians occupied and managed all of our continent for millennia.  That connection has been sustained despite enormous challenges since colonisation. Our ecosystems today are a result of Indigenous use, occupation and management and require active management to sustain the unique biodiversity and natural values we all cherish.

In close collaboration with their extensive network of frontline Indigenous partners, theiradvocacy has helped build a new narrative for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who wish to live and work on their Country, for the benefit of all Australians.

They do this by ensuring Rangers and Traditional Owners can talk directly with decision makers, initiating constructive engagement with governments of all persuasions, through policy commentary and feedback, and by communicating with and mobilising a broad public support base through traditional and digital media.
